Remembrance, Prayer and Thanksgiving
On Easter Monday morning, Cardinal Kevin Farrell announced the death of Pope Francis, that he had "returned to the home of the Father".
This week, in the lead up to the funeral on Saturday, our school communities will be remembering the late Pope Francis in prayer and reflection, coming together in faith, hope and love.
A constant source of hope and inspiration, Pope Francis has profoundly shaped the very mission and the whole life of the Catholic school community, moving a generation of children and young people throughout England and Wales to put their faith into action, to care for our world and for those in greatest need. Bishop David, in our Diocese of Northampton, who met Pope Francis in 2022, has shared a heartfelt statement and honours the Holy Father as a shepherd of mercy, a voice for the marginalised, and a father who reminded the Church of its call to be a home for all.

Northampton Cathedral and other churches in the Diocese are open for mourners to attend, light a candle, contribute to a book of remembrance and spend moments of prayer and peace. Many special services in remembrance are also being held.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace. Amen.
